Continuing Awards
The University of Calgary offers both competitive and nominated awards to students continuing their studies in programs leading to a Bachelor’s degree. Apply online through My UCalgary.
Eligibility
Competitive Awards
- You must complete the on-line awards application; selection is based on academic merit however other criteria such as financial need (for bursaries), and/or extracurricular activities, leadership, volunteerism, etc. may be required depending on the award terms of reference.
- You must be continuing in your program full-time in the upcoming academic year. Students who are registered with Student Accessibility Services to receive accommodations in their program qualify for awards after completing at least 18 units in the most recent fall and winter terms.
At time of selection (late June):
- You must have been enrolled full-time in an undergraduate degree program (excluding Juris Doctor and Doctor of Medicine programs) in the most recent fall and winter terms.
- For most awards, you must have completed a minimum of 24.00 academic units over the most recent fall and winter terms. Some awards allow for a minimum completion of 18.00 units.
- Students who were in a co-op or internship program for both the most recent fall and winter terms are not eligible. If you were enrolled in them for only one term, contact Student Financial Support (ucawards@ucalgary.ca) to verify eligibility.
- The grade point average (GPA) used for awards purposes is based on all courses you most recently completed in the fall and winter terms as a full-time student. Scholarships require a minimum GPA of 3.20. For bursaries, the minimum GPA required is 2.00.
- Supplemental exams, deferred exams, special deferred exams or term work may affect your eligibility for awards, if grades are pending.
