Biography

With her roots planted in the West Coast, moving to Calgary was an eye opener for Monica U. but the change and opportunities led her to want to help improve society. After traveling to various countries, some impoverished, Monica realized the importance of volunteerism and leadership. Her interest in volunteering has seen Monica participate in high impact events like the Ride of the Mustang as well as planning and hosting Breaking Bread potlucks for Canadian Women for Women in Afghanistan, a nonprofit organization.

In high school, Monica displayed academic excellence. She also prided herself on being able to challenge and support her peers to reach the best of their abilities. Monica was her high school’s valedictorian and graduated with honours with distinction. She was also part of her high school’s badminton team and former player for the Airdrie District Soccer Association.

Monica is working towards a Bachelor of Science degree and is considering a career in medicine.
