Biography

I graduated from West Kings District High School located in Auburn, Nova Scotia. Some of the greatest accomplishments from my time in high school were helping to restart and then coach our school’s unified basketball team, improving the high school experience for students by helping organize a multitude of events while acting as student council co-vice president in grade 11 and co-president in grade 12, helping my school’s international students settle in as a NSISP ambassador, being the captain of multiple successful sports teams and winning provincial gold in basketball in my final year, as well as winning awards including male athlete of the year, grad of the year, male scholar-athlete of the year, as well as being one of my school’s co-valedictorians. I learned so much from all of these experiences and cannot thank my family, teachers, friends, and teammates enough. Throughout my time in high school, my leadership skills were developed, the ability to plan ahead and adjust on the fly was obtained and most importantly, the necessity of slowing down sometimes and really enjoying the moment with the people who matter to me was recognized. The extracurricular activity that made me feel most fulfilled was coaching my school's unified basketball team. This was my first time as a head coach and watching the players continually improve while having so much fun was such an inspiring experience that I will never forget it. Between travelling to other schools for the day to play a few games, to practice every week, to hosting our own version of March Madness, there was never a day that I didn’t enjoy it.

I was drawn to engineering because I enjoy the challenge of solving problems and because of the ability to go in so many different directions with engineering careerwise. I am especially interested in the field of clean energy and sustainability. During my undergrad, I hope to learn more about these topics and to further my knowledge through course work, collaborative projects and work placements. I feel that the structure of the U of C engineering program will also help create opportunities for future connections in the engineering field.

Once I graduate, I hope to work on either the development or the implementation of sustainable energy.

I would like to thank my family and friends for always being there for me, my high school teachers for their dedication and willingness to go the extra mile, and my former coaches for teaching me the value of hard work, discipline, and positivity
