Biography

Jamie graduated from Western Canada High School in Calgary, AB. During this time, Jamie worked as a leadership volunteer at the Calgary Distress Centre, fundraised over $1,200 by organizing philanthropic sports events with influential community members, and won the Optimist Essay Contest and the Ayn Rand Anthem Essay Award.

To Jamie, an ideal university is innovative, vibrant, and forward-looking. Jamie is enrolled in a dual degree program, combining a Bachelor of Commerce with a Bachelor of Arts – Economics. She chose this program because of her interest in the economics of clean and sustainable energy, which both majors address through industry exposure and theoretical knowledge.

Jamie aspires to make a significant impact in sustainable energy development and clean technology focusing on carbon emission reduction and the global energy transition.

For Jamie, the award empowers her to dedicate more time and resources to enhance the university’s academic and cultural landscape through leadership involvement. It also allows her to connect with driven and like-minded people.

Jamie’s interests lie in understanding the implementation and economic impacts of technologies like Carbon Capture Storage. She is enthusiastic about exploring innovative solutions such as biomimicry and its role in bridging gaps and advancing the fight against climate change.
