Seymour Schulich

Recognizing the increasing importance and impact that 
STEM disciplines will have on the prosperity of future 
generations, businessman and philanthropist Seymour 
Schulich established this $200 million scholarship fund 
in 2012. Schulich Leader Scholarships enable Canada’s 
top universities to attract and retain exceptional STEM 
talent here at home, empowering them to become the 
innovators and entrepreneurs our country needs.

Award description

  • Offered annually to undergraduate students entering an eligible STEM program at the University of Calgary. Renewable in 2nd, 3rd and 4th year at the University of Calgary, provided recipients continue to be enrolled in an eligible STEM program, and meet all renewal criteria
  • The $30,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship is designated for students entering the Schulich School of Engineering. The $25,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship is designated for students entering an eligible non-Engineering Science, Technology or Mathematics program
  • Entrepreneurial-minded (exhibiting leadership, charisma and creativity)
  • Canadian citizen
  • Intend to pursue a career in one or more of the following focus areas: (A) Technology (B) Engineering (C) Entrepreneurship and business enterprise (D) Applied scientific research
  • Nomination Deadline: January 28, 2026
