Step 1. Log on

Sign in to your Canadian online banking account and go to the area where you would typically pay bills.

Step 2. Add University of Calgary as a payee

Add the University of Calgary as a payee on your bill payment profile. There are two payee profile types for University of Calgary:

  • Residence
  • Tuition

Make sure you select the correct payee type.

To find the correct payee profile for your bank, refer to the list below:

Tuition: University of Calgary – Tuition
Residence: University of Calgary – Residence
  • RBC

Step 3. Enter your account details

Your account is your 8-digit UCalgary ID (UCID) number + the first 5 letters of your last name. If your name is less than 5 numbers, use the full name. Do not include any hyphens or special characters.

Account name examples:

Step 4. Submit payment and wait for processing

It can take up to five business days for online payments to be processed and posted to your student account. Payments received after the payment due date are subject to late interest.

Admission deposit and application fee payments must be posted on your account by the deposit or application deadline. Do this to ensure your application and/or offer of admission isn't cancelled.

Step 1. Access Convera Global Pay

Access Convera Global Pay's University of Calgary page.

Payments made through Convera can't be processed to or from sanctioned or restricted jurisdictions. If your bank's country isn't listed in the Convera payment portal, you'll need to use an alternative payment method.

Step 2. Select the items you wish to pay for

Select the country where the payment will originate, then choose the items you wish to pay for and enter the amount. You can make a single payment for both tuition and residence, as long as each item is selected.

Due to banking regulations, not all currencies are available. If your home currency isn’t listed, you may pay in another available currency, such as U.S. dollars.

Step 3. Select your method of payment

Choose to pay with bank transfer or credit card. Each have their own fees, charged by the service provider (not University of Calgary).

Step 4. Complete details and payment

To avoid delays in processing, please ensure you accurately input the student details.

  • Bank transfer: print off the instruction sheet and bring it to your local bank. They will be able to facilitate the transaction. Alternatively, the transaction can be completed with an online banking service.
  • Credit card: the transaction can be completed entirely online.

Step 1. Access CIBC Student Pay

Access CIBC Student Pay's University of Calgary page.

Please note: You do NOT need to be a client of CIBC to use this service.

Payments made through CIBC Student Pay can't be processed to or from sanctioned or restricted jurisdictions. If your bank's country isn't listed in the CIBC Student Pay payment portal, you'll need to use an alternative payment method.

Step 2. Select the items you wish to pay for

Please note: Due to banking regulations, not all currencies are available. If your home currency isn’t listed, you may pay in another available currency, such as U.S. dollars.

Step 3. Complete details and payment

Processing external award cheques can take up to four weeks. Students are responsible for any late fees or holds caused by delayed payments. Payments must be posted on your Student Centre account before the term fee deadline to be considered on time.

See more information on external award payments.

FAQs

No. Cash, personal cheques, money orders, and/or bank drafts aren't accepted.

All payments take processing time to appear posted to the student account. Processing time varies depending on the payment method. For Flywire payments, refer to the chart above for processing times. Flywire payments appearing in a Delivered status will take up to four hours to appear posted to your student account.

If your payment is taking longer than expected, visit the Payment Issues page for instructions on how to resolve the delay.

All payments take time to process. They may not post to your account immediately. If your payment is processed after the term fee or payment plan deadline, you'll be responsible for any late interest charges.

UCalgary isn't responsible for delays in payment processing from sanctioned countries or countries experiencing economic crises.

We recommend international students open a Canadian bank account as soon as they arrive in Canada. Get more details on how to open a Canadian bank account.

If you can’t pay the full amount of tuition and fees by the deadline, the payment plan might be a good option.

If you pay via international wire/bank transfer, a payment plan may not be ideal. This is because of the time it takes to process these payments, in addition to exchange rate costs.

Yes. A third party (such as a relative) can pay fees on behalf of a student. We recommend using Flywire from within your Student Centre. It offers a secure sharable link for payment that both the student and the payer can track.

Note: If a third party pays via Flywire, any refunds will be returned back to the payer. Refunds through any other payment method will be refunded to the student directly. For refund details, visit the Refunds and overpayment webpage.

No. All payments must be made online. See above for details.
