Biography

Rani is enrolled in the Engineering program. She chose this program because she discovered how engineering and technology allow people in society to overcome barriers in their lives. Rani hopes to design and create projects as an engineer that will help benefit the lives of people and create long-lasting effects in reducing any hindrances a person may face.

Rani graduated from Forest Lawn High School in Calgary, AB. Her top three achievements during her high school years were: creating a children’s book outlining the importance of healthy living and a food charter, organizing the first Forest Lawn Community Fair to connect community members and showcase community organizations available to help those in need, and acting as student ambassador for a blood drive at her high school for Canadian Blood Services.

Her choice to study at UCalgary was because of the extraordinary engineering program. She has read stories of how students at the University of Calgary use innovation and creativity to design projects that make a positive difference in the world. She also had a connection to UCalgary through the mentorship program of the Cumming School of Medicine. Through speaking with her mentor, she realized how diverse and supporting the university is and decided to be a part of the community.

The Seymour Schulich Community Service/Entrepreneurial Entrance Award will allow Rani to be a leader in the community as well as provide opportunities to grow and learn as a student, while not being financially burdened during her studies.
