Yu S.

Yu graduated from Linden Christian High School in Winnipeg, MB. During his time there he is most proud of having the second-highest overall average, receiving the Triple-Science Award, and being a Badminton Zone finalist.

Yu chose to study at UCalgary because of its reputation in research and the engineering program. He also admired that UCalgary excels in many aspects and is in one of Canada’s best cities.

Yu is enrolled in the Bachelor of Science – Engineering program because he wants to follow in his father’s footsteps. He hopes to make a lasting impact by creating new technologies that change our way of life.

Yu wants a career that he loves and wants the work he does to impact the world. He wants to create new technologies that can change the community for the better, doing something both impactful and enjoyable.

For Yu, the prestige award alleviates the worry of student loans, which allows him to focus more on his studies and clubs. It also creates a meaningful impact on his resume which helps in his future endeavors.

Yu doesn’t have any specific research interests but hopes to find his niche in the future. He’s always willing to try new things and might engage in research when he finds something that interests him.

Yu believes that engineers have revolutionized the world we live in and hopes to design inspiring innovations that make an impact.
