Seymour Schulich Academic Excellence Entrance Scholarship for Students Outside the Calgary Area

Biography
I graduated from Stanley Humphries Secondary School in Castlegar, British Columbia. Some of my greatest accomplishments in high school were running our schools Relay for Life cancer fundraiser, being Grad Executive co-president, and doing a capstone project on pulsar detection for gravitational wave research. These activities taught me about working with others and making a difference in my communities. I was able to use my passions and skills for a common purpose, whether that be social or academic.
I chose engineering and engineering physics in particular because I want to see how applicable science can be used to advance research and discover new things about the nature of the universe. I have a passion for space science, and want to learn more about that during my program.
I would like to pursue graduate studies after my engineering degree, to further specialize and enhance my education. I want to help design and build large scale experiments to aid in scientific research, particularly in gravitational wave science, which I believe to be cutting edge as well as fascinating.
Thank you to everyone in my community who always supported my endeavours, especially my mother, father, and twin sister.
