China Day at the Calgary Zoo included a private viewing of the pandas, Chinese heritage clothing show, research panel highlighting the work of our Veterinary Med faculty & students and a lecture on panda symbolism by one of our scholars in the School of Languages, Linguistics, Literature & Cultures.

University of Calgary International, the Honorary Consulate of the Federal Republic of Germany, Bayer, Baymag and BASF presented Germany Day 2019. This event celebrated not only German culture, but the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus movement and its tremendous impact on modern art and architecture.

Calgarians had the opportunity to hear about the challenges of space exploration directly from Dr. Nicola Fox, NASA’s director of the Heliophysics Division, as part of USA Day organized by University of Calgary International, the Faculty of Science and the U.S. Consulate General in Calgary.

Professor Yukiko Takeuchi from Kumamoto University discussed how the country’s innovative architectural and civil engineering ideas and technology are utilized to benefit safety, both in Japan and abroad.

Celebrate Diwali 2020 event was in collaboration with UCalgary International Student Services and the Indian Students Association. Remarks were given by the Honorable Prasad Panda, Minister of Infrastructure, Government of Alberta along with UCalgary President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Ed McCauley. The event gave participants an opportunity to experience a part of Indian culture including exciting Bollywood dance and a live Henna tutorial.
