Information on Permanent Residence
A Permanent Resident refers to an individual who has legally immigrated to Canada, but is not a Canadian citizen. Permanent Residents are citizens of other countries. This page is meant to provide University of Calgary students with basic information on Permanent Residence (PR) in Canada.
- International Student Services hosts regular Permanent Residence Information Sessions throughout the year. At these sessions a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant will explain the various paths to becoming a Canadian Permanent Resident that are most applicable to UCalgary students and recent alumni.
- Session dates can be found on our events calendar and you can sign up by clicking on the sign-up page found in the event page. Please note that sign-up opens around two weeks prior to a session. Please bring your UCalgary Student or Alumni Identification Card.
- Once you have attended an Information Session, you can then meet with the Permanent Residence Specialist for a one-on-one advising session. Please note, our RCIC will not represent you in your application, nor will they check for completeness of your application. They will however be able to help explain what options are generally available to UCalgary International Student Alumni and how the process works.
- You are eligible to receive these services up to 1 year after graduating.
