Canadian Immigration
International Student Services (ISS) offers expert guidance on Canadian immigration matters, including study permits, work permits, visas, and more. Our regulated Canadian immigration advisors are here to help you navigate the process and answer your questions.
Throughout the academic year, we host a variety of immigration-related webinars and workshops led by a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC).
How to Apply for a Study Permit Extension: This session will guide you through the process, including how to demonstrate proof of financial support and enrollment.
How to Apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP): This session provides an overview of the Post-Graduation Work Permit application process, along with tips on how to strengthen your application and increase your chances of success.
What to Do After You Graduate (For International Students): Explore career options, job search strategies, and goal setting in this session. You'll also learn about the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) and options for staying in Canada to work, along with a brief overview of Permanent Residency (PR). This session is a collaboration between ISS and the Centre for Career and Personal Development.
How to Apply for a Co-op Work Permit: This workshop will explain the steps to apply for a co-op work permit and provide useful tips to improve your application.
Important Information: All immigration sessions are open only to current UCalgary degree-seeking students and recent graduates. These sessions are not available to exchange students, visiting students, ESL/IFP students, or foreign workers on campus.

Orientation for New International Students
Getting Settled in Calgary/Alberta/Canada
The UCalgary International Student Services team looks forward to welcoming new international students each fall and winter term through our online orientation.
These online sessions are hosted throughout the summer and academic terms to assist new and returning students’ smooth adaptation to life in Calgary and studies at UCalgary. These are non-immigration, non-academic topics.

Pre-arrival Program
The Pre-arrival program for international students is an online program on D2L that’s available to all incoming UCalgary international students. The program contains all the important information you need to know before and after your arrival. It’ll help ease your transition and help support you to thrive at UCalgary.
Once you’ve registered for at least one credit course, you’ll be automatically enrolled in the pre-arrival program. To access D2L platform, you must register your IT account.
Access the program to follow a step-by-step list of tasks to complete as an international student and make your transition into university a successful one.
