UCalgary’s momentum as a leader in green building practices is growing.
Hunter Student Commons is one of the most energy-efficient buildings on campus, and in Canada. This double-skinned, certified for zero-carbon building design supports the University of Calgary’s Climate Action Plan and goal to create a carbon-neutral campus by 2050.
Our planners went to Europe to consult some of the world’s top energy consultants, including meeting leaders and touring fifteen buildings throughout Germany. They then worked to incorporate world-leading innovations within our Calgary context.
Hunter Student Commons and the MacKimmie Tower combined are 85% more energy-efficient than previous buildings on the site.
It is just the latest example of our commitment to leadership in green building practices.
