UCeed Health Funds
UCeed is now funding ventures in child and general health. This is Canada’s first seed fund for child health – a priority research area for UCalgary.
Activated by Innovate Calgary, the university’s knowledge transfer and business incubator, UCeed serves to support the robust pipeline of UCalgary-based child and health enterprises.

Opportunity Fund
Award
Up to $150,000 investment
Criteria
- Applicant must have an established relationship with the University of Calgary as a current, past or visiting faculty member, a student, or has licensed or assigned intellectual property developed at the University of Calgary.
- Technology Readiness Level (TRL): Stage 1-4.
- Minimum one (1) full-time employee.
Applicants are encouraged to download the Reference Document and develop your responses prior to completing the application form as you will not be able to save during the submission process.

Growth Fund
Award
Up to $300,000 investment
Criteria
- Applicant must have an established relationship with the University of Calgary as a current, past or visiting faculty member, a student, or has licensed or assigned intellectual property developed at the University of Calgary.
- Technology Readiness Level (TRL): 5+.
- Minimum two (2) full-time employees.
- Minimum $250,000 raised by investee from external sources.
Applicants are encouraged to download the Reference Document and develop your responses prior to completing the application form as you will not be able to save during the submission process.
Application deadline
Funding is awarded competitively, based on a selection process conducted quarterly. Applications must be submitted by the following deadlines to be guaranteed for funding consideration in the respective quarter: February 19, 2021 (Q2 2021), May 17, 2021 (Q3 2021).
About the UCeed Health Funds
The UCeed program is made possible by the generosity of the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation and the River Fund at Calgary Foundation, who have provided a total of $10 million to help commercialize child and general health research projects.
