Equitable and Inclusive Hiring for Managers
Hiring managers make decisions that have implications for the diversity of the institution’s workforce. Equitable and Inclusive Hiring Practices for Managers is a workshop that introduces equitable and inclusive practices that hiring managers can apply as a measure to integrate equity consideration into the hiring of staff. These equity practices can be applied to identity and address barriers in the hiring process that disadvantage members for underrepresented groups.
The workshop presents concepts of equity and inclusion, explores barriers and challenges that limit opportunities for underrepresented groups, and introduces the application of an equity lens in the hiring process. Participants will learn about applying and integrating equitable and inclusive practices in the hiring process. This interactive workshop will engage participants in thinking critically about barriers to equitable and inclusive hiring while examining and applying managers' and hiring committees’ roles in promoting equity in hiring.
