Partnership requests from external institutions

The priorities of our Academic and Research Plans drive the strategic foundation for all our global partnerships, including academic, research and global development. In order for our global partnerships to be impactful, they must be based on solid and long-term relationships among faculty members and programs and sustained through strong institutional and faculty commitments. We therefore encourage that any proposal for a formal partnership have a UCalgary faculty or staff sponsor. If a faculty or staff member from the University of Calgary is able to sponsor the proposed partnership, they should take the lead in initiating the proposal.

If sponsorship isn't available from faculty or staff, please connect with the Global Partnerships and Affairs Office at globalaffairs@ucalgary.ca and provide the following information:
•    Details of your institution (i.e., name, location, address, website, key contact, rankings, accreditations, background, and other information that may be relevant to the proposed partnership).
•    Potential areas of collaboration and any previous or existing linkages with UCalgary.
•    Nature and objective of the proposed partnership.
•    UCalgary faculty or unit proposing to partner with, including the name of the associated UCalgary faculty member or staff (if available).
•    Any other relevant information about your institution and proposed partnership.
•    If the partnership request is for mobility (student exchange), please provide a link to your course catalogue and highlight the courses with English language as mode of instruction.

Partnership proposals from UCalgary faculty and staff

The following principles should guide any proposal for a global partnership:
1.    The partnership must be consistent with UCalgary’s Global Engagement Plan and its strategic priorities.
2.    The partnership must be with like-minded institutions that share our commitment to innovation and entrepreneurship.
3.    The partnerships must be based on strong institutional and faculty commitments. UCalgary faculty and staff should first explore expanding collaborations with our current global partners before initiating a formal relationship with a new institution.
4.    The partnership must contribute positively to the UCalgary’s standing.
