Support creates success

This project is the culmination of three significant building projects across UCalgary made possible by support from the Government of Alberta.

Students, faculty and staff need the right spaces to create the ideal conditions for learning. Classrooms designed to support today’s learners. Informal spaces to connect, collaborate and create. Rooms to grow with the big dreams of our entrepreneurs-in-the-making.

Hunter Student Commons would not have been possible without support from the Government of Alberta, the Hunter Family Foundation and our community.

This building is part of a series of major infrastructure projects supported by the Government of Alberta, which also includes MacKimmie Tower redevelopment and significant upgrades to the Professional Faculties Building.

It is named in honour of the Hunter family, whose ongoing support of entrepreneurial thinking at the University of Calgary included the creation of the Hunter Hub for Entrepreneurial Thinking in 2017.

The University of Calgary now has a central place on campus to provide enhanced student supports, increased study and learning spaces, and a home for growing entrepreneurial thinking. Able to welcome up to 2,000 people per day, Hunter Student Commons is the thriving heart of our revitalized campus community.
