PDAC

The Postdoctoral Fellows Association of the University of Calgary

May 1, 2024

The university is pleased to announce the ratification of a new collective agreement with the Postdoctoral Association of the University of Calgary (PDAC).

Formal negotiations began in December and through hard work and collaborative discussions, we reached an agreement that runs from January 1, 2024, to June 30, 2028. This agreement incorporates important improvements to the terms and conditions of employment for postdoctoral associates.

Among the improvements are a 2% salary increase effective July 1; and subsequent increases of 2% on July 1, 2025; 1.75% on July 1, 2026; and 1.75% on July 1, 2027. The minimum annual salary rate for postdoctoral associates will also increase on July 1 of each year of the collective agreement. Other key elements include a new annual flexible spending account for health and wellness, an increase to the minimum postdoctoral associate appointment for those who have received external fellowship funding, and the creation of joint working groups to improve annual performance reviews and to address concerns related to hours of work.

Over the coming months the university will work with PDAC to implement the terms of the agreement.
