Peer Support and Outreach Team Peer Helper
Peer Support and Outreach Team Peer Helpers provide empathetic, non-judgmental listening and peer support to students who are seeking connection or navigating personal or academic challenges. Volunteers use active listening, shared experience, and supportive communication to help peers manage stress and mental health concerns. Working in pairs from the Student Wellness Services space, volunteers offer drop-in support to students in both one-on-one and small-group settings. In addition to direct peer support, volunteers also collaborate in working groups to plan initiatives that promote the program and foster community.

Wellness Education Team Peer Helper
The Wellness Education Team delivers Wellness Classroom Visits - short, engaging, 5-minute presentations that instructors can request to have at the beginning of their classes. These peer-led presentations are designed to highlight the importance of specific themes, provide an actionable strategy relevant to the topic, and provide information about relevant campus resources and support. Peer Helpers also normalize common student experiences by sharing their own stories, encouraging help-seeking, and reducing stigma.

Student Medical Response (SMR) Peer Helper
The Student Medical Response team is a 100% student volunteer run and organized group providing qualified and skilled pre-hospital emergency medical care to eligible University of Calgary community events.
Occupational Health & Safety Orientation for Volunteers
Under the Alberta Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) legislation, all first-time applicants to any University of Calgary department are required to complete online training about their rights and responsibilities for complying with health and safety regulation.
