Schedule 4 Funding: Academic Strategists

Student Aid Alberta has set the following guidelines around requesting grant funding for academic stragegy support:

  • A student requesting funding for an academic strategist through the Schedule 4 must have a loan for a current or future study period.
  • The deadline to submit Schedule 4 applications requesting funding for academic strategist support is 30 days prior to the study period end date.
  • An academic strategist helps students to identify and develop key academic skills (organization, time management, note-taking, test taking, interpersonal dynamics, and more).
  • 10 hours maximum per semester (4 months) to a maximum of $1,000 per semester

A student requesting academic strategist funding is responsible for:

  1. Letting Student Accessibility Services know about any funding you have received in previous semesters for academic strategist support, and how much of that funding you ended up using.

  2. Finding an academic strategist.
    • Consult the list of academic strategists available below.

  3. Submitting receipts.
    • Students must provide the following to Student Aid Alberta at the end of the study period:
      • Academic Strategist receipts to show that the granted funding was appropriately used
      • An attendance schedule for strategist sessions with a short description of what was worked on for each session
    • To assist with tracking sessions, students may wish to download this handout which includes a fillable reconciliation form

  4. Immediately alerting SAS if you wish to change strategists or stop working with a strategist altogether.

BIO:

My work with students focuses on creating Success Cycles by developing strategies that use your strengths to support your areas of concern. As the Senior Strategist at U of C and MRU, I provided advanced strategy instruction for students with learning and attention disabilities as well as mental health and/or medical conditions. I developed and provided Strategist training workshops at many post-secondary schools in Calgary.

As the Instructional Leader of the Special Education Department and a Special Education teacher at a large SK high school, I developed many strategies and skills which I pass on to students I work with. Check my website www.robertaamosconsulting.com for a more complete look at how I work.

At the free half-hour Discovery Meeting, we will discuss your strengths, areas of concern and how we can work together to create success in your academics. We will determine whether we will meet face to face, via Skype/Facetime, or a combination of both. I provide email/text support between sessions as necessary.
