Program details
Students will study at least 3 credits and up to 9 credits of regular undergraduate-level courses offered by HKUST. Local excursions and cultural activities will be organized exclusively for ISP students. There will also be activities and events for ISP students to interact with each other to encourage cultural exchange. 3 credits at HKUST is equivalent to 3 units or 1 HCE at the University of Calgary.
Ensure you review your course selection with a Haskayne exchange advisor before leaving for your exchange to confirm transfer credit.
Haskayne undergraduate students must take their core courses at the University of Calgary. Students can take two senior commerce and/or non-commerce options, and/or a maximum of 2 concentration courses (not ACCT/PLMA). They are required to maintain full time status while on exchange.
The Summer Program will take place over HKUST’s Summer Term, typically from June 17th to August 10th.
Courses will commence and end on different dates within the Summer Term period.

Costs
Exchange students pay their tuition and academic fees to the University of Calgary. Other expenses are paid directly to the service provider.
While students do not need to pay tuition fees to HKUST, each student will be charged HK $10,500 which covers the following items:
- University housing fee
- Student visa application and handling fee
- HKUST compulsory travel insurance fee
The amount will be deducted accordingly for students who do not need a student visa to study in Hong Kong, or if your institution has obtained institutional insurance waiver from HKUST.
Remember to include things like visas, flights, insurance, vaccinations etc in your budget planning.

Funding
Did you know that you can take your UCalgary funding with you on exchange?
Since you remain a degree seeking student at UCalgary while on exchange you remain eligible for any awards and scholarships you are eligible to receive from the university as well as student loans.UC International administers the International Study Travel Grant for students travelling on approved UCalgary study programs that are credit bearing. The amount changes year to year as the money is split evenly between qualified applicants. Students may only receive the study travel grant once. Please see the funding page for more information.
All exchange students are accommodated in university-provided double occupancy student halls.
Hall assignments are all decided by the housing office. Except for the off-campus Jockey Club Hall, all other on-campus hall and roommate preferences will not be entertained due to limited capacity.
No bed linen/pillows/blankets, etc. are provided due to sanitary reasons. Students are also recommended to purchase a bed protector for the duration of their stay.

Computer Services
Each exchange student is given access to the online University’s Student Information System (SIS) and an e-mail account after she/he has officially registered into the program. On-Campus Sports & Recreation Facilities
