Graduate

The Radiation Oncology Physics specialization offers thesis-based Masters and PhD degree programs through the University of Calgary’s Department of Physics and Astronomy. During the first semester, students meet with professors who have proposed research projects.  Around December of their first year, students select the project and supervisor that are most suitable for the student’s research goals and interests. This allows students to get to know the field, department, and personalities before making a decision, thus making a more informed choice of project.

There is a substantial course load for students in the first two semesters of these programs, covering the theory and practice of Radiation Oncology Physics, as well as the core course requirements of the Department of Physics and Astronomy. Students enrolling in graduate programs in the Radiation Oncology Physics specialty are expected to be prepared to excel in advanced level physics core courses. Generally, thesis work begins after the second semester courses are complete.  Our graduate students complete substantial clinical experience (20 months at 32 hr/month for MSc students and 40 months for PhD students).

The deadline to apply for September admission is January 15th.  For more information click here or the requirements tab under the Prospective Students tab.  To apply click here or the How to Apply tab.
