Keynote Address: The Truth About Stories: Critical Considerations of Narrative Medicine

Dr. Schrewe is a consultant general pediatrician and medical education researcher based in Victoria. At UBC, he is a clinical assistant professor in the department of pediatrics and a doctoral candidate in the department of educational studies. He uses a variety of critical approaches to better understand the affordances and limitations of mainstream practices of medical education. He works, lives, and plays on the traditional territory of the W̱SÁNEĆ peoples, specifically on lands governed by one of the 14 Vancouver Island (Douglas) treaties, the Saanich (South) treaty of 7 February 1852. He was on the executive of the Canadian Association for Health Humanities as its inaugural Secretary-Communications Officer.
