Interactive Stories
In Their Shoes
Welcome to In Their Shoes, a collection of interactive stories meant to help introduce healthcare trainees and professionals (though all are welcome to play) to some of the challenges that marginalised populations face on a day-to-day basis without requiring additional emotional labour from patients. In a “choose-your-own-adventure” fashion, these stories will guide the reader through various choices and experiences that marginalized patients may encounter. This interactive element is designed to facilitate an understanding of a patient’s perspective, choices, and their potential barriers to care. Our hope is that this will help build the groundwork for humane, patient-centred care.
Our work is based on interviews with people who have generously donated their time and energy to helping us understand their perspectives. We have combined and reworked identified themes into a fictionalised narrative. Any error contained within is ours.
