Unit Inspections - What You Need To Know

Residence Services will inspect all units in residence once a semester to ensure safe living conditions in Residence. These inspections are designed to reduce and/or correct potential housekeeping and facility issues before they cause damage or harm. All inspections are conducted under the Residence Services Agreement.

You do not need to be in your unit while the inspection is being conducted. To prepare for unit inspections, if you notice any maintenance issues in your unit, please submit a maintenance request online.

How can I help?

  • Tidy up as best as possible. We know your room won’t be spotless but work with your roommate to put items away and clean up your area. We understand there will be a few dishes in the sink and school projects scattered around.
  • If you notice any maintenance issue prior to your room inspection, please submit a maintenance request. If you have submitted the request and it has not be complete before your inspection, please let us know or leave us a note if you will not be in your room during the inspection.
  • If we notice any maintenance issues while inspecting, we will put in maintenance requests on your behalf.

What if I don’t pass the inspection?

If you do not pass the inspection due to the cleanliness or condition of your unit, your building Residence Life Coordinator will contact you and may ask to meet with you. They will work with you in addressing the outstanding concerns and support you in ensuring you are able to pass any potential follow-up inspection. Failure to adequately address the outstanding concerns may result in additional cleaning charges. If you have any questions about the room inspections, please connect with your floor CA or building RLC.
