Chroma Property Technologies
With the goal of changing the relationship between renters and landlords, Chroma Property Technologies has created a renter-centric technology that helps those involved in the rental market with the many challenges that can come with it. The platform helps renters find a place to live, pay rent and build credit, while allowing property managers to streamline the payment process and track references. The Chroma marketplace will help renters find great homes and help property managers find great renters.
Approximately one-third of North Americans are in the rental market. Renting presents certain challenges: renters can have a hard time proving their history and rental reliability and aren’t able to build credit, while property owners can struggle to retain renters and find reliable tenants. Chroma addresses both sides of the relationship with its technology platform that helps to build a long-term rental experiences and produce better outcomes.
By creating a “rental passport," renters can take their payment history and landlord references with them when they move. They can also use the platform to pay rent and build credit over time. Property owners can access a streamlined payment and collections processing system, and vet reliable renters with ease. Chroma has also demonstrated social value through emerging partnerships with Immigrant Services Calgary, Newcomers Canada, HelpSeeker, and Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.
Chroma’s founders have a strong track record in technology commercialization and property management. Myles Shedden, CEO, and Riley Pickerl, CTO, come from senior positions at SkipTheDishes, while Alkarim Devani, Co-Founder and Advisor, is the former CEO of RNDSQR, a Calgary property development and management business. Together they are empowering both renters and property owners and making renting a better experience.
