UCalgary to partner in new research centre at Alberta Children’s Hospital

The Centre for Research and Innovation will provide a home for important research discoveries that will help children and youth in our community, across the country and around the world. It will also expand the health innovation and life sciences sectors in Alberta and create a vibrant training ground for the next generation of child health experts.

The Mathison Centre for Mental Health Research & Education is dedicated to advancing research and education on early identification, treatment and prevention of mental illness. Mathison Centre works closely with academic and community partners in Calgary, across the country and internationally to foster research and innovation to advance mental health across the lifespan focusing on children, youth and emerging adults.

Law school makes important step to supporting student mental wellness

The $100,000 gift from one of Western Canada’s leading law firms will support timely and responsive counselling services for students and proactive educational tools to bolster resilience and build the foundation of wellness vital to future success.

First of a kind program that explores mental health from multiple perspectives

The certificate is a micro-credential program for students that embeds experiential learning opportunities. It brings together interdisciplinary teams of students to develop solutions to topics on campus and with partner organizations. The certificate is the first of its kind in Canada and has won a Teaching Award for Curriculum Development.

Wellness education designed to fit into UCalgary students schedule

Piloted in fall 2021, as a collaboration between the Campus Mental Health Strategy, Student Wellness Services and campus partners such as the Student Success Centre, approximately 280 classes have been visited, reaching over 14,000 students in various faculties.

Ensuring psychological health and safety at workplace

UCalgary’s commitment to ensuring psychological health and safety is recognized by adopting the National Standard for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace. A psychologically healthy and safe workplace is one that promotes and supports employee mental health and wellbeing by assessing and addressing how policies, processes, practices, and interactions affect employees, the workplace environment, and the campus culture.
