Who Are We?

Objectives of the University of Calgary Retirees Association, originally founded as the University of Calgary Emeritus Association in 1992 and renamed as The University of Calgary Retirees Association in 2022, are to serve members, the University and the public.

Its objective is to be the vehicle which brings together retirees for the betterment of the membership and their families, and to foster ways that its members can contribute to the life of the university and society at large.

It provides a visible and active focus for the history, experience and expertise available to the University of Calgary and the public through retired university academic personnel.

The University of Calgary Retirees Association maintains an active relationship with the University, and provides a discussion forum for former academic colleagues, whose input shapes the further development of the Association. Various issues of interest and benefit to members are monitored on a regular basis.

Meetings are normally held on the second Wednesday of the month, except in July and August, at 2:00 p.m. Coffee and refreshments are served. Members and guests are welcome.

Establishment of the Association

The University of Calgary Emeritus Association was started in 1993 by a group of Emeriti faculty to provide a place to get together with other retired university staff. In 2022, the scope of the Association was expanded to include all retirees, including faculty and staff. To reflect this shift, the name was changed to the University of Calgary Retirees Association (UCRA).
