Cancer Metallomics Laboratory at the Arnie Charbonneau Cancer Institute
We are very excited to present the new Cancer Metallomics Laboratory in the Arnie Charbonneau Cancer Institute at the University of Calgary. This state-of-the-art facility features the ThermoFisher Neoma Multiple Collector Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer specifically designed to quantify femtograms of 210Pb in biological materials. This specialized instrument is supported by a metal-free laboratory to prepare samples with minimal amounts of contamination. In addition to lead isotope analysis, the laboratory is working on research to study the redistribution of isotopes of copper, iron, and zinc to better understand the function of metals in living systems and the connection between metals in our environment and eventually in our bodies.
