Maryam Ataeian

Biography

Maryam is a PhD student in the Energy Bioengineering Group under the supervision of Dr. Marc Strous. She holds a B.Sc. in Cell and Molecular Biology-Genetics from Isfahan University, Iran and a M.Sc. in Molecular Biology and Genetics from University of Alberta. She joined the group in September 2016. Her research focuses on optimizing the mixed-culture phototrophic system for biomass production as well as characterizing the naturally occurring microbial community of the system.
