Biography

I am a PhD student in the Energy and Bioengineering group under the supervision of Dr. Marc Strous. My current research focuses on detection and cultivation of 'microbial dark matter' from Alberta groundwater samples, especially members belonging to the Candidate Phyla Radiation. My MSc was completed at California State University, San Bernardino under the supervision of Dr. Jeremy Dodsworth, where my research focused on microbiology of geothermal springs, specifically targeting laboratory cultivation and maintenance of mixed cultures containing 'microbial dark matter'. My primary research interests include microbial ecology and environmental microbiology.
