Walking parallel paths, together, in a good way

The Office of Indigenous Engagement and ii' taa'poh'to'p guide UCalgary on its path of transformation, and communicate its commitment and responsibility for truth and reconciliation.

"Let us move forward with promise, hope and caring for the sake of those children not yet born, seven generations into the future."

National Indigenous History Month

National Indigenous History Month is an opportunity to reflect, learn and honour the rich histories, diverse cultures and stories of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. Throughout June, the UCalgary campus community comes together to celebrate the accomplishments, histories and cultures of Indigenous communities.

The annual Campfire Chats, held in partnership with Heritage Park, celebrates Indigenous oral tradition and storytelling through music and performance. Where We Gather, The Land Speaks, held at the Nickle Gallery in the Taylor Family Digital Library is a presentation of emerging Indigenous artists whose work demonstrates their relation to the land. And finally, we come together as relatives to celebrate the remarkable achievements of our Indigenous students at the annual Indigenous Graduation Celebration hosted by Writing Symbols Lodge.

In the spirit of meaningful reconciliation, let us build authentic reciprocal relationships as we continue walking parallel paths together towards our shared future.
