A. FACULTY OF ARTS REQUIREMENTS
Students must adhere to the applicable Faculty of Arts requirements in 3.4 Graduation.
B. MAJOR-FIELD REQUIREMENTS
As part of their program, students normally take a mix of courses with a “Social-Sciences Emphasis” (List A) and a “Natural-Sciences Emphasis” (List B). Students wishing to graduate with a BSc rather than a BA are required to take a minimum of 8.0 full-course equivalents with a “Natural-Sciences Emphasis.” Anything less than 8.0 full-course equivalents with a “Natural-Sciences Emphasis” automatically defaults to a BA degree.
Students must successfully complete a minimum of 7.0 and a maximum of 10.0 full-course equivalents in the Field of Archaeology while fulfilling the following requirements:
1. Core: Archaeology 201, 203, 451.
2. Regional Archaeology: 1.0 full-course equivalent from: Archaeology 303, 341, 343, 351, 353, 357, 395, 401, 409, 421, 423, 427, 431, 433, 435, 437, 439, 441, 507, 537, 553.
3. Archaeological Techniques: 1.0 full-course equivalents with:
(a) At least 0.5 full-course equivalents from: Archaeology 415, 417, 471, 555;
AND
(b) Any remainder from: Archaeology 306, 413, 453, 517, 533.
4. Archaeology Options: 3.5 full-course equivalents from courses labeled Archaeology.
C. OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Ethnography Requirement: 1.0 full-course equivalent from: Anthropology 317, 319, 321, 323, 331, 355, 405, 419, 427; and Archaeology 307, 345, 355, 357, 399, 419.
D. DEGREE OPTIONS
- The BA or BSc in Archaeology can be taken with Cooperative Education. See section 3.4.5 Co-operative Education Programs for information and requirements.
- The BA or BSc in Archaeology can be taken with a Concentration in Physical Anthropology (see Section 4.5.2).
Notes:
- Archaeology courses used toward the ethnography requirement also count as Archaeology options.
- Some science courses, for example from the Faculty of Science, may be approved to supplement the archaeology courses with a “Natural-Sciences Emphasis” (List B); please consult with the Undergraduate Director for guidance on this issue.
