Applicants to the BA Dance degree program will be assessed on the basis of a dance audition, an Audition Form for the BA Dance and a Statement of Interest. The Fine Arts Degree Advisor for Dance Programs must receive audition forms for the BA (Dance) degree by February 1.
Prospective students must also meet the criteria in the section of this Calendar on A.2 “Admission Requirements” at the University of Calgary.
Dance Audition
After submitting the basic University application and an Audition Form for admission to the BA Dance program by the deadlines, all applicants will be expected to audition.
Auditions are conducted by the BA Dance Committee and are held on the campus of the University of Calgary in March. At the audition, applicants will be required to participate in dance classes, written assignments and improvisation.
It is strongly suggested that applicants audition in person. Applicants who are unable to audition in person may apply to the committee no later than February 1 for permission to send a videotaped audition.
Limitation of Enrolment
Enrolment in the BA (Dance) program is limited. Therefore, all qualified applicants may not be admitted. Applicants will be admitted on the basis of the following criteria:
1. Academic standing in high school and/or previous post-secondary education (University admission requirements);
2. Written Statement of Interest;
3. Dance audition.
