4.28.10 Double Baccalauréat en français et espagnol/Double Major in French and Spanish

A. FACULTY OF ARTS REQUIREMENTS

Students must adhere to the applicable Faculty of Arts requirements in 3.4 Graduation.

B. DOUBLE MAJOR REQUIREMENTS FOR THE BA IN FRENCH AND SPANISH

Exigences: Pour les étudiants inscrits au programme de double baccalauréat en français et en espagnol, l'équivalent de sept cours complets de français et de sept cours complets d'espagnol suffit, selon les modalités qui figurent ci-après:

Français:

1. Niveau 200: French 215 et 217.

2. Niveau 300: French 315, 317, 339, 359 et soit 349 ou 369.

3. Niveau 400: 2.5 cours complets de niveau 400, dont un de langue (ex. French 415, 479, ou Romance Studies 499, ou un autre cours de langue approuvé par le Département) et un sur le Canada francophone (ex. French 439).

4. Niveau 500: 1.0 cours complets de niveau 500.

Espagnol:

1. Niveau 200: Spanish 201 et 203.

2. Niveau 300: Spanish 301, 303 et 323.

3. Niveau 400: Spanish 405, 407, 421, 423, ainsi qu'un autre 0.5 cours complet de niveau 400.

4. Niveau 500: Spanish 505, ainsi qu'un autre 1.0 cours complet de niveau 500.

5. Niveau avancé: Un autre 0.5 cours complet de niveau 300, 400 ou 500.

Remarques:

  • Il est également fortement conseillé aux étudiants d'étudier pendant au moins un trimestre dans un milieu francophone ou hispanophone et même, de préférence, de passer un trimestre dans chacun de ces milieux.
  • Une liste de cours facultatifs recommandés est disponible au Département.

Requirements: Students must successfully complete a minimum of 7.0 and a maximum of 10.0 full-course equivalents in both the Field of French and the Field of Spanish while fulfilling the following requirements:

French:

1. 200-Level Courses: French 215 and 217.

2. 300-Level Courses: French 315, 317, 339, 359 and one of 349 or 369.

3. 400-Level Courses: 2.5 full-course equivalents at the 400 level including one language half course (e.g. French 415, 479, or Romance Studies 499, or another language course approved by the Department) and one half course on Francophone Canada (e.g. French 439).

4. 500-Level Courses: 1.0 full-course equivalents in French the 500 level.

Spanish:

1. 200-Level Courses: Spanish 201 and 203.

2. 300-Level Courses: Spanish 301, 303 and 323.

3. 400-Level Courses: Spanish 405, 407, 421, 423 plus an additional 0.5 full-course equivalents in Spanish at the 400 level.

4. 500-Level Courses: Spanish 505 plus an additional 1.0 full-course equivalents in Spanish at the 500 level.

5. Spanish Options: 0.5 full-course equivalents in Spanish at the 300 level or above.

Notes:

  • In addition students are strongly advised to study for at least one semester in either a Francophone or a Hispanophone environment and preferably to study for one semester in each.
  • A list of recommended optional courses is available from the Department.

C. DEGREE OPTIONS

The BA in with Double Majors in French and Spanish can be taken with Cooperative Education. See section 3.4.5 Co-operative Education Programs for information and requirements.
