What are CREATE-IISC program’s admission requirements?
For Masters and Doctoral students: please check the admission requirements included in the university website they wish to enroll. Our four key Canadian collaborative universities are University of Calgary (UofC), University of British Columbia, University of Waterloo and University Victoria.

How do I enroll in the CREATE-IISC program, once I am admitted to the University?
To enroll in the CREATE-IISC program, you will need the permission from your academic supervisor and contact us at create.iisc@ucalgary.ca
What are the CREATE-IISC program requirements?
- Students should enroll in
- IISC Core Course – ENCI 622: Integrated Infrastructure for Sustainable Cities
- Professional Development courses recommended by the IISC program
- Thesis research should involve at least 2 infrastructure domains and the student be co-supervised by 2 domain experts.
- Each student is expected to complete a minimum of 4 months of internship during the program or university exchange program with one of the collaborating universities.
- Attendance in the IISC meetings, workshops, and other IISC activities is compulsory.
- Providing annual progress reports is compulsory.
How do I find an internship? The past student found internship opportunities via networking with our industry collaborators, connections through their academic supervisors, through the grad skills and through other connections.
What sources of funding available for Graduate Student Internships?
- CREATE-IISC funds can be utilized as matching funds (upto 50%). (Please contact he program director)
- MITACS provides funding for projects up to 55%. (https://www.mitacs.ca/en)
- Transformative Talent Internships (TTI) provides funds to offset loss of stipend and may pay an additional bursary top-up to interns. (https://grad.ucalgary.ca/my-gradskills/experiential-learning/internships/students)

How can an industry be a collaborator?
There are various ways to collaborate with the CREATE-IISC program as an industry collaborator:
- You can collaborate by offering direction and advice regarding the types of research that should be conducted under the umbrella of IISC bridge the gap between university research and real-world needs.
- Sharing Knowledge and your expertise with our researchers.
- Incorporating on-going research components in your organization into graduate student course related short-term projects and becoming an industry advisor for their projects.
- Participating in our annual workshop, CREATE-IISC Professional Development program, and networking events
- Participating in teaching through delivering guest lectures at your expertise
- Accommodating Graduate Student Internships (Matching Funding Available via Different Programs) for our trainees
- Hosting workshops and bootcamps for CREATE-IISC team
