Illustrating the Outcomes of Community-Based Research: A Case Study on Working with Faith-Based Institutions

Incoming immigrants to places like Canada tend to be religious and thereby run counter to prevailing secular trends, which we often see in research. The authors show how Community-Based Research (CBR) starts from the community to be studied and how it can be helpful when dealing with organizations that are tied to religion. They discuss the hallmarks of CBR and use these hallmarks to structure a study with The Salvation Army (TSA). Second, they extend other work on the functions of CBR to illustrate the outcomes that can emerge from this sort of approach.
