"I am Roxana Moaref, a PhD candidate in chemical and petroleum engineering. Personally, I believe that volunteering is the essence of connection, growth, and fulfillment. Volunteering activities can provide many benefits and worth doing your bit to help. I have been volunteering for as long as I can remember and it’s something very close to my heart. At the university, I became one of the active members of the university journal and the income of the journal was spent for buying wheelchairs for children with disability problems. When I moved to Canada for studying my Ph.D., I was always passionate about participating in voluntary activities. I joined the Iranian graduate student association (IGSA), and I gained loads of skills in leadership, mentoring and time management. I have two years of experience in this group, first year as communication vice president and the second year as vice president. In addition, I participated in the Chemical Engineering Graduate Club (CEGC) as the vice president, which holds events in polymer engineering field. I am confident that CEPEGA will offer me a valuable opportunity to explore and enhance my skills. I am eager to immerse myself in this dynamic environment, where I can collaborate with like-minded individuals towards fostering positive change and growth within the student community."
"My name is Mohammed Muzammil Ateeq and I am a graduate student in the Department of Chemical & Petroleum Engineering who is currently working as a Research Assistant for the SHARP research group at the University of Calgary. As an individual, I strongly believe that there is no particular age for contribution as I have always maintained my tendency to have a receptive approach towards bringing changes and reformations in the system. I believe CEPEGA will provide me the opportunity to explore & and enhance my skills by working for the betterment of students in their university life."

" I joined the Schulich School of Engineering as a grad student after being in the oil and gas industry for more than ten years. Being a member of CPEGA is a great way to give back to the community and gain valuable experience. Working with a team of people from different background and culture can help develop interpersonal communication skills and provides opportunities to meet new people and make new friends. I am sure that joining CPEGA can provide a supportive and enriching environment for me to develop and improve my social skills, which can have long-term benefits for personal and professional relationships."

Name: Seyed Masoud Vahedi
Position: IT Officer
Contact: seyedmasoud.vahedi@ucalgary.ca
"My foray into research began as a graduate student, pursuing a MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering, working on modeling blood flow and studying the drug pharmacokinetics in the application of drug Drug-Elutiong Stents. After completing my MSc, I was frequently hired by Iran's National Elites Foundation to collaborate with research groups in various topics. These collaborations exposed me first-hand to various engineering problems ranging from heat and mass transfer in porous media to multi-phase flow, iron ore reduction, and rheological studies of nano-lubricants, thus inspiring me to pursue a PhD in Chemical Engineering at the University of Calgary. I decided to be a member of CPEGA and was selected as a VP Academic to work closely with other members reflecting the students concerns to decision makers and be responsible for all advocacy related to academic issues. I am going to ensure that students receive the best possible education at the University of Calgary. Here, I am working on Programmable Drug-Eluting Stents with more elaborations on chemical reactions participating in degradation and erosion of polymer and stent platform. More specifically, I am developing toolkits to anticipate the formation of Neointimal Hyperplasia, while focusing on degradation kinetics as a promising approach to get rid of side effects of durable polymers. Away from research, you can find me playing badminton, doing volunteering activities, hanging out in parks with family and friends."

"I earned my BSc degree in 2018 from UET Lahore's Department of Petroleum & Gas Engineering. In addition, I obtained the International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety from NEBOSH (UK). With over a year of hands-on experience in oilfield operations (specifically subsurface production operations) and reservoir engineering, I gained valuable insight. This practical exposure enabled me to discern various career avenues and bolstered my determination to pursue an MSc in petroleum engineering. Presently, I am an MSc candidate in petroleum engineering at the University of Calgary. Actively engaged as a member of the SHARP research group, I am involved in the screening of various solvents for developing more efficient in-situ bitumen recovery processes. In CPEGA, I play my role as a GRC Representative and actively volunteer for students with respect to relevant events and social gatherings."
