Technical and non-Technical Talks
Every year, we invite professionals to present various aspects of the chemical, oil & gas industry, give technical talks, and share their academic and work experiences with students. These topics range from the non technical but interesting subjects such as "what industry expects from graduate students once they recruit them" and "how one could be a good candidate attending in different job interviews" and "how diversity could help students learn from each other" to technical and outstanding focuses such as "how to write a technical paper for peer reviewed journals.
Many of our speakers present on subjects not offered in the current university curriculum. This gives our members a chance to learn about topics beyond the classroom from some of the most knowledgeable minds in the industry. Furthermore, it allows students to attach a human face to the company name. Students seeking future career opportunities within the organization can then correspond with the speaker.

Field Trips and Fun Programs
Each year CPEGA organizes out of town trips and provides a chance for many students to travel out of Calgary and enjoy the activities. Most of graduate students do not have any experience of working in Oil and Gas industrial fields and consequently, are not familiar with upstream and downstream equipments. The aim of these trips is to let students observe the massive infrastructure that is associated with the industry and also enjoy activities that are being provided in and out of Calgary.
