Letter of Permission (LOP)

Current UCalgary undergraduate students in good standing who wish to take courses at another post-secondary institution must obtain approval from their Faculty prior to doing so.

Students should first review the Transfer Credit Search Tool to see if the course has been assessed.

If the course has been assessed, students should meet in advance with their Faculty Advisors to obtain permission and to ensure that courses being taken at other institutions will apply toward their degree program.

If the course hasn’t been assessed, students should meet with their Faculty Advisors to obtain permission and to ensure that courses being taken at other institutions will be eligible to receive transfer credit and will apply toward their degree program.

Most students can apply for a Letter of Permission through their Student Centre at my.ucalgary.ca.

If you have problems requesting a Letter of Permission, please contact your Faculty Advisors.

If you take a Letter of Permission in the last term before you wish to graduate, your graduation may be delayed.
