EDIA (Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility) Award for Postdoctoral Fellows
The EDIA Award for Postdoctoral Fellows recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility within their academic and research environments. Nominees must be current, full-time postdoctoral fellows at the University of Calgary. Nominations should provide evidence of the nominee’s commitment to EDIA activities over at least six months prior to nomination.
Criteria for the Postdoctoral Fellow EDIA Award include:
- Impact on EDIA: Evidence of the nominee’s efforts to promote equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility within their role and the broader academic community.
- Initiatives: Involvement in programs, initiatives, EDIA-focused workshops, or committees dedicated to advancing EDIA principles.
- Mentorship: Demonstrated commitment to mentoring individuals from underrepresented groups in research or academic pursuits.
- Research Contributions: Engagement in research that addresses EDIA-related issues or benefits diverse populations.
- Collaboration: Participation in collaborative efforts that foster a diverse and inclusive academic environment.
- Positive Impact: Evidence of positive outcomes for students and the university community resulting from the nominee’s EDIA efforts.
Nomination Process
- Submission of Nomination Form: A comprehensive nomination form specific to each award category must be submitted, detailing the nominee’s contributions to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA).
- Evidence of Impact: Include clear, specific examples that demonstrate the nominee's achievements, highlighting both current and potential future impact on EDIA.
- Supporting Documentation: Additional materials are encouraged, such as work samples, letters of support from faculty or community members, and an optional personal statement from the nominee that outlines their EDIA contributions.
- Eligibility for Nomination: Nominations are welcome from faculty, students, staff, and peers.
- Relevant Documentation: When applicable, provide documentation of relevant activities or projects that further illustrate the nominee’s contributions.
Evaluation
The EDIA Awards Adjudication Committee will evaluate nominations using a detailed rubric based on the award criteria, assessing both qualitative and quantitative impacts of the nominee’s work.
