EDIA (Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility) Team Award

The EDIA Team Award recognizes the achievements of teams whose collaborative efforts have significantly advanced equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility within the university community. Nominations should provide evidence of the team’s commitment to EDIA activities over at least six months prior to nomination.

Criteria for the Team EDIA Award include:

  1. Impact on Community: Demonstrable positive effects of the team’s initiatives on students, academic staff, or support staff, addressing systemic barriers or promoting the inclusion of underrepresented groups.
  2. Innovation: Evidence of creative and original approaches to advancing EDIA within the university, including unique programs or practices that could serve as models for other departments or institutions.
  3. Collaboration: Demonstrated teamwork across departments, disciplines, or community partners, with active engagement in developing and implementing EDIA initiatives alongside diverse communities.
  4. Sustainability: Evidence that the team’s work includes initiatives with lasting impact, designed to influence the university’s operations and culture in alignment with EDIA principles.
  5. Measurable Outcomes: Clear metrics for assessing the success of initiatives, supported by data or testimonials that demonstrate the effectiveness of the team’s efforts.
  6. Commitment to EDIA: Ongoing dedication to EDIA principles within the team and the broader university context, including professional development or training initiatives to enhance EDIA awareness and practices.

Nomination Process

  1. Submission of Nomination Form: A comprehensive nomination form specific to each award category must be submitted, detailing the nominee’s contributions to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA).
  2. Evidence of Impact: Include clear, specific examples that demonstrate the nominee's achievements, highlighting both current and potential future impact on EDIA.
  3. Supporting Documentation: Additional materials are encouraged, such as work samples, letters of support from faculty or community members, and an optional personal statement from the nominee that outlines their EDIA contributions.
  4. Eligibility for Nomination: Nominations are welcome from faculty, students, staff, and peers.
  5. Relevant Documentation: When applicable, provide documentation of relevant activities or projects that further illustrate the nominee’s contributions.

Evaluation

The EDIA Awards Adjudication Committee will evaluate nominations using a detailed rubric based on the award criteria, assessing both qualitative and quantitative impacts of the nominee’s work.
