EDIA (Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility) Award for University Management and Professioanl Staff (MaPS)
The EDIA Award for University Management and Professional Staff recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional commitment and contributions to promoting equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility within the university environment. Nominees must be current, full-time employees of the University of Calgary. Nominations should provide evidence of the nominee’s involvement in EDIA activities over at least six months prior to nomination.
Criteria for the Management (MaPS) EDIA Award include:
- Impact on EDIA Initiatives: Evidence of the nominee’s efforts in implementing programs or policies that advance EDIA, including contributions to embedding EDIA principles within university policies, practices, or culture.
- Leadership and Initiative: Demonstrated proactive leadership in promoting EDIA initiatives among faculty, students, and staff.
- Collaboration and Community Engagement: Active engagement with diverse communities and partners across the university (including students, academic staff, and support staff) to foster an inclusive environment and promote EDIA values.
- Sustainability of Efforts: Evidence of the nominee’s long-term commitment to advancing EDIA, including continuous engagement with EDIA training, workshops, or professional development.
- Innovation: Creative approaches to addressing EDIA challenges within the university, including innovative solutions or practices that effectively overcome barriers.
- Measurable Outcomes: Clear metrics, data, testimonials, or other evidence of the nominee’s initiatives that demonstrate a positive impact on the university community.
- Advocacy and Support: Active advocacy efforts supporting underrepresented groups within the university.
Nomination Process
- Submission of Nomination Form: A comprehensive nomination form specific to each award category must be submitted, detailing the nominee’s contributions to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA).
- Evidence of Impact: Include clear, specific examples that demonstrate the nominee's achievements, highlighting both current and potential future impact on EDIA.
- Supporting Documentation: Additional materials are encouraged, such as work samples, letters of support from faculty or community members, and an optional personal statement from the nominee that outlines their EDIA contributions.
- Eligibility for Nomination: Nominations are welcome from faculty, students, staff, and peers.
- Relevant Documentation: When applicable, provide documentation of relevant activities or projects that further illustrate the nominee’s contributions.
Evaluation
The EDIA Awards Adjudication Committee will evaluate nominations using a detailed rubric based on the award criteria, assessing both qualitative and quantitative impacts of the nominee’s work.
