Offers of admission are only valid for the term outlined in the admission letter. Students who are not registered in a course(s) after the course drop deadline for this term must re-apply for admission, unless they are approved for a deferral of admission.
Requests for deferral of admission may be submitted to the Associate Registrar, Information, Recruitment and Admissions through the Deferral of Undergraduate Admission Request form who will consult with the Faculty to which the student has been admitted. Deferral of admission requests are considered on a case-by-case basis for exceptional circumstances and approval is not guaranteed. Exceptional circumstances are typically considered as unforeseen and extraordinary situations that are short-term in nature with a clear and definitive end date.
To be eligible for deferral based on study permit delay, students must apply for the study permit on or before November 1 for winter admission, March 1 for spring admission, May 1 for summer admission and July 1 for fall admission; or within 15 days of the offer of admission (whichever is later).
Students who attend another post-secondary institution during the deferral period will have the deferral cancelled and must re-apply for admission. Requests to defer an offer of admission are not normally considered after the start of the admission term.
Students admitted to the Cumming School of Medicine (MD program), Veterinary Medicine, and Law see the faculty website for admission deferral information.
