Students are eligible to apply to an Undergraduate certificate after completion of 12 units or more of academic course work from a recognized/accredited institution by December 31 of the year prior to the year of admission for Spring, May 1 for Summer and Fall entry, and August 31 for Winter entry.

Some programs may require applicants to complete, or be in the process of completing, specific course requirements at the high school or post-secondary level. Post-secondary required courses must be transferable from an accredited/recognized post-secondary institution.

Admission is competitive and meeting the minimum requirement does not guarantee admission. The minimum admission GPA requirement is 2.00.

Certificate Admission GPA: To be considered for an undergraduate certificate, applicants GPA will be calculated using the most recent academic work to a maximum of 12 units (University of Calgary courses and/or academic courses taken at other institutions). All courses attempted within a term will be included except where the number of courses taken within a term results in the overall number of units exceeding 12. Should this occur, the highest grades from the oldest term being considered will be used to calculate the GPA. Grades for high school courses will not be used to calculate the GPA.

Students who do not meet these requirements may be considered for an undergraduate certificate under the Equitable and Inclusive Admissions Process (section A.10).

Students are not permitted to register in a University of Calgary degree, diploma or certificate program while simultaneously working towards a credential at another institution, unless a formal partnership exists between institutions.
