The University of Calgary offers both competitive and/or nominated awards and bursaries to students who are currently or will be enrolled in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
-
Eligibility: These awards are conditional upon recipients being admitted to and registered in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Students entering their first year of the program are eligible for nominated awards only. Students continuing in their second, third or fourth year of the program are eligible to apply for Undergraduate Competitive Awards and are eligible for nominated awards.
-
Requirements: The payment of monetary awards, with the exception of certain prizes and graduating scholarships, is contingent upon the student maintaining full-time status in the immediate Fall and Winter terms. Unless otherwise stated in the conditions, the recipient must be in actual full-time attendance at the University of Calgary before receiving the awards. Payment of tuition and fees is the first charge against such awards. If the value of an award is stated as "tuition and fees", it is understood not to include differential fees. Supplemental, deferred and special deferred examinations or term work may affect eligibility for certain awards.
-
Application: Continuing students are encouraged to complete the Undergraduate Competitive application available June 1 in the Student Center through the myUofC portal. By submitting this application, students will be considered for the majority of undergraduate scholarships and bursaries. Nominated awards do not require an application as nomination is made automatically by the faculty.
-
Deadline: Continuing students must submit the Undergraduate Competitive online application on or before August 1.
-
Notification: Successful applicants will be notified by email in December.
