Our research activities focus on principles and methods of enabling VR/MR/AR platforms for interactive analytics of complex data.
Our research group – Visualization and Interaction Laboratory – has built expertise and knowledge in VR/MR/AR, haptics and 3D visualization, multi-sensory integration, data processing, and pattern recognition through the following research foci:
- Focus 1: Models of multi-sensory integration. The aim of this focus is to create models, algorithms, and tools of human multi-sensory integration for neuroergonomic interaction and brain-machine interfaces (BMI) within VR/MR/AR platforms.
- Focus 2.: Interactive analytics of complex data. The aim of this focus is to develop AI/ML methodologies of processing and visualizing hyper-dimensional complex data for multi-user interactive analysis on VR/MR platforms.
Both foci are interconnected to streamline complex data into 3D visualization for users' interactive analytics on VR/MR/AR platforms. Examples of applications include flow control, rector monitoring, infrastructure/asset management, and surgical planning/training.
