The Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar Compression System captures a material's response to sudden dynamic events. The SHPB compression system majorly consists of a  launcher, striker, incident, and transmission bar that works together to impart a known amount of energy into materials at strain rates up to and more than 10000 s^-1 (striker speeds exceeding 300 ft/sec). The length of the incident bar is 95'', and that of the transmission bar is 71'' with both having a diameter of 3/4''. The compression test can be configured to allow for single or multiple hit events using a matched momentum trap.
