Workshop on 5G and machine learning for IoT and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV)

We successfully hosted the "1st Workshop on 5G and machine learning for IoT and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV)" at IEEE 9th World Forum on Internet of Things (Oct 12-27). The objective of this workshop is to present the latest developments in 5G and AI/ML technologies for IoT and UAV. The workshop was a hybrid event with online attendance and in-person in Aveiro, Portugal. This workshop accepted a total of six papers for presentation and subsequent publications in the proceedings. We also hosted several invited talks from the Micronet team leads. We hope the workshop fostered discussion among academics, industry professionals and government stakeholders.

Software Tutorial for Collaborative Integration

On April 20, 2023, we held a virtual introductory session and tutorial for members of the 5G-TCOP Micronet HQP. The session focused on introducing the students/HQP of the micronet, providing an overview of the micronet goals and developments, and opportunity to learn basics, tips and tricks of how to use the software that will be useful for their research/integration. The main motivation is to understand what software platforms for development the various teams can use and how they can be brought together in a collaborative and efficient way. Three software platforms were covered including 5G system simulation (Simu5G), AI model developments (Tensorflow) and autonomous UAV simulation in 3D virtual environment (AirSim). The interconnectedness of the software towards the project and further developments were also discussed.
