  WHO?

Eric Kowalski, Adrienne Parsons and Tony Napolitano,  first year graduate students in the  University of Calgary, Faculty of Environmental Design (Planning).

WHERE? 

The inner-city Calgary neighbourhood of Mission

WHAT?

The challenge was to come up with ideas for the potential redevelopment of the site of the former Holy Cross Hospital.

WHEN?

The Fall of 1999.

WHY?

The project was a component of the EVDP 634 "Planning Omnibus" course.

HOW?

A lot of walking, talking, thinking, scribbling, photographing..."discussing".... and, of course, PLANNING!


 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
History
  • The Holy  Holy Cross Hospital hospital has been a significant presence in the community of Mission since the hospital was established in  1891.  
Site Considerations: 
  • There are many issues and opportunities associated with the present site and buildings.  
Core Principles: 
  • Six core principles were established, based on which we devised  three possible scenarios.  
Scenarios:   
  • As it is...... as it could be.
